John Fahey, guitar mystic

People call guitarist John Fahey the founder of “American Primitive Guitar“, which is kind of funny since he had a degree in philosophy and religion and a masters in folklore. Be that as it may, he dove deep into blues and folk music and worked out a knotty, idiosyncratic something. I dunno. Just watch it.

“He seemed to be the sort of folk guitar playing equivalent of William Burroughs, or Bukowski.” — Pete Townsend
